Hótel Eldhestar was the first lodging in Iceland to receive the Nordic ecolable, the Nordic Swan. For both the building process as well as the daily operations at the hotel we follow the guidelines of the Swan.

We drew inspiration from the colors and materials in Icelandic nature as well as from the culture. Genuine craftmanship and old tradition inspire the interior in a house built with ecological technology.

We have dedicated our hotel to the Icelandic horse – our most useful servant for centuries. On the walls there are old photos and texts that remind us of the importance of the horse through the ages.
